Looking at the highlights it seems Bremen was quite lucky at times. The penalty and the sending off appears harsh. Quality goals though.
Great passing move for the third, and the first was a screamer. Look like they're capable of getting an away goal as well.

I was so glad that Bremen got that last minute goal to knock the smiles of the arrogant Sampdoria players faces.

What a shame Samp couldn't quite manage it, didn't see the game but maybe Werder's experience in European competition made the difference.

How about Braga beating Sevilla!

Agreed.
Not so much because they were arrogant but because of the disgusting time wasting by faking injuries and rolling around on the pitch like if they were shot.
All teams, on the continent at least, not so much in british football, are guilty of it but in Italy it appears as if it is part of the game plan. Genoa started it 10 minutes into the second half.

Bremen were and generally are very poor at the moment. They haven't found their rhythm at all yet. Hopefully they will, by the time the group phase has started.

Devastating loss for Sampdoria and Italian football that, they are now relying on either Inter retaining the CL or Juve and the others doing well in the UEFA Cup if they are to stay ahead of the Bundesliga and keep that 4th Champions League spot.

The one big moment when Sampdoria lost concentration cost them, they allowed their entire flank to be open leaving Rosenberg with so much space to run into, take my hat off to the guy though it was some finish. Stakevicius had an awful second half, Marin constantly beat him all night.

Di Carlo's decision to take off Cassano for Pozzi was imo a fatal move when Extra time came around, you should always be prepared in football for all circumstances, Samp were a little too overconfident an they obviously thought they had the game won, by taking off their one major creative player and replacing him with a more out an out centre forward deprived Samp of any creativity in the extra time period, it should have been Pazzini off for Pozzi which was more of a like for like switch.

It was a great run by Marin and a fine strike by Pizarro though to win it for Bremen.

As for Braga, it is potentially a fantastic result for Portuguese football on the whole, not just for Braga, with 15 million at their disposal it will help them keep their best players at the club in case Porto, Sporting or Benfica come sniffing around and it will also raise the profile of the club and if they land 3 good teams in the group stages it is likely they will sell out all 3 games plus the tv companies, extra ticket sales, sponsorship and merchandising windfall they are going to recieve could help them win the Portuguese league in the non too distant future. It could also help them get regular crowds of 22k plus in that nice 30k stadium they have. For years sides outside of Portugal's Big 3 have been light years behind them in terms of finance and competition, but if Braga can invest their money wisely (something that Boavista didnt do when they had a good team at the start of the noughties) they could pose a threat to the big 3 in the next few years.

Anderlecht's penalties were shocking, especially the first one which aggrivated the divot in the ground even further than it was prior to the shootout.

Brilliant night of football, loads of goals, 3 exciting games and drama till the very end, im off out with a friend tomorrow so im recording the spurs game, they better be a little weary though after tonights results, how about this for a bad omen, both countries who were entitiled to 4 Champions League spots have lost their 4th placed representatives from last season's standings (Sampdoria for Italy and Sevilla for Spain), Spurs better hope lightning doesnt strike thrice tomorrow!!

Their own fault imo, if they didn't go around diving and acting up then the manager wouldn't have rushed into the subsitution. Tough shit.

The expressions on the faces of the Sampdoria players imo was all wrong for that last few minutes, some of them were almost smiling away on the pitch and they seemed to think that Bremen didnt exist anymore and that the result from the first leg never happened, almost as if they were winning 3-0 on the night and on aggregate, completely failing to take into account the match situation and that all it would take was a Bremen goal to force extra time

As Riccardo said, the penalties that Anderlecht took were abysmal. They are on the bottom video here.

I'm not normally a Bremen fan but that result has imo made the Bundesliga a racing certainty to take Italy's 4th CL place.
Well done Werder !

Fantastic result for Spurs tonight, they never looked in any trouble and did a good professional job against Young Boys.

After they cost me a winning bet im going to officially hate Auxerre for a short space of time, still to beat Zenit who have an excellent team under Spaletti is quite something, big letdown for Zenit though, wanted to see them in the Champions League this year, though they will have a chance of winning the Europa League.

Nice to see Ajax back in the Champions League, Suarez's goal tonight was a very good finish and a excellent bit of ball control to bring it round the onrushing keeper before he finished. Him and El Hamadoui will form a good partnership imo.

Cant wait for 4:30 tomorrow though, the only reason i watch the preview on SSN before the draw is because of Keir Radanege from World Soccer Magazine who really knows his stuff and makes the best comments out of all the pundits in the Sky Sports News studio.

I reckon the hardest draw Spurs could get is

Inter Milan
Real Madrid
Rubin Kazan

The best they can hope for will be something like this

Lyon/AC Milan
Shakhtar Donetsk
Zilina

I think all the English teams should go throgh. Arsenal, United and Chelsea should all win there groups. Tottenham will battle it out with Breman but i think they should be runners up.
