Rio Ferdinand needs no introduction.
A central defender who played for years in the Premier League, most of them with Manchester United.
We were surprised to find out that when he was younger he was taking ballet classes!
Here’s what Ferdinand had to say about it:
When I was young, I did ballet and actually earned a scholarship for the London Ballet School. At first I didn’t say anything to my friends, because they would definitely pick on me and laugh for days. Eventually I revealed it to them in the 3rd year and the truth is that they got it quite nice. However, it was a great commitment, because I needed 2 hours to go there and this was done 3 times per week. At some point my father said I had to choose if I wanted to be a footballer or a dancer. Luckily I chose football. But I think ballet helped me a lot in some things in my career.
Nice one Rio!
